Chelonoidis carbonarius
Personable and long-lived. They eat every day and they are messy. Be honest about the maintenance.

- They walk. They do not want to be carried around a party.
- Enclosure
- Floor space, humid hide, outdoor time when Connecticut allows it. They outgrow a tank.
- Heat
- 80–85°F ambient, basking the high 80s to 90. Soak water.
- Humidity
- 70–80% for the shell. Dry red-foots pyramid.
- Diet
- Greens, fruit in measure, animal protein in small doses. Every day.
Red-foot or Russian. Russians are the other beginner tortoise they will name.
