Boa
Boidae
Rainbows, Dumeril's, the larger ticket after you have kept a corn. Not a first snake.
- Handling
- Heavy-bodied. Know the adult size before you fall for the baby.
- Enclosure
- Secure, with room to move as they grow. This is not a forever-tub animal.
- Heat
- Warm end the high 80s to 90. Cool side the upper 70s. A thermostat is not optional.
- Humidity
- Varies by species — rainbows want more moisture than a Dumeril's. Ask which one is on the rack.
- Diet
- Frozen/thawed rodents, sized honestly. They get expensive if you skip the math.
Ball pythons and boas are the next step, not the first ticket if you have never held a snake.
