Western hognose

Heterodon nasicus

Upturned snout, toad-hunter face, a lot of personality in a small snake.

Handling
Theatrical bluffers. They settle. Not venomous in any way that belongs on a care sheet scare line.
Enclosure
Deep enough to burrow. Secure lid. Hide and a water dish they will sit in.
Heat
Warm end 88–90°F. Cool side the mid-70s.
Humidity
30–50%. They are a dry-country snake.
Diet
Frozen/thawed mice. Some are fussy as hatchlings — ask before you take one home hungry.

A second snake, not a first, unless you already keep corns.
